You'll see orders for meds to get to the bottom of diaper rash in kids and adults.
Barrier preps (petrolatum, zinc oxide, etc) prevent AND treat diaper rash. For treatment, barrier products should be applied liberally with each diaper change...like frosting a cake.
Be aware of the advantages of different dosage forms. Ointments or pastes give more protection...but creams aren't as messy.
