There's Controversy Over the Best Ways to Minimize Hazardous Med Exposure

You may hear mixed messages about closed-system transfer devices (CSTDs) for reducing hazardous med exposure.

We've been using these devices...such as PhaSeal, Equashield, and ChemoLock...for years. They help contain aerosol produced during sterile compounding. We usually can't see this aerosol, but it contaminates surfaces and increases exposure risk.

In fact, this practice is rooted in guidance for hazardous drug handling...from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), USP Chapter <800>, etc.
